Framed watercolor, gouache and ink made by famous Polish painter Franciszek KOSTRZEWSKI. Signed F. Kostrzewski.Franciszek KOSTRZEWSKI: 1826 Warsaw – 1911 Warsaw. One of the most popular 19th-century painters, associated with Warsaw. He studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts, and his teachers were M. Zaleski, C. Breslauer and F. Piwarski, with whom he traveled around the country in search of painting themes. From 1849, he stayed and worked in Kielce for two years, invited by T. ZieliÅ„ski, a patron and art collector. In 1856, he traveled around Europe for longer, staying in Paris. He lived permanently in Warsaw and published countless illustrations, satirical drawings and caricatures in the Warsaw magazines Tygodnik Ilustrowany and KÅ‚osy. The theme of his works – both drawing and painting – was everyday life. With the verve of a realist, he painted genre scenes often placed against the background of the Polish landscape, which was clearly recreated. *********Shipping from our office in Europe**********
