German WWII Militaria & Propaganda
Lot 223:
German military propaganda leaflet from World War II. Addressed to Russian soldiers on the Eastern Front. It reads as follows: Do you recognize who this is? This is Yakov Dzhugashvili. Stalin’s elder son. Battery commander of the 14th Artillery Regiment, which surrendered near Vitebsk on July 16, along with thousands of other officers and men. By Stalin’s order, Tymoshenko and your political officers teach you that the Bolsheviks do not surrender. However, all the time the Red Army soldiers go over to the German side. To intimidate you, the commissars lie to you that the Germans treat prisoners badly. Stalin’s son showed by his example that this is a lie. He gave himself captive. Follow the example of Stalin’s son. He is alive, healthy and feeling great. Why should you make sacrifices, go to certain death, when the son of your guardian has surrendered himself to slavery? Go and you!
