Fritz Witt (born May 24, 1908 in Hohenlimburg, died June 14, 1944 in Venoix) – SS-Brigadefuhrer and major general of the Waffen-SS.He took part in the capture of the Netherlands and France.Then i.a. an officer of the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, and then the commander of the 12th SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend. He died in a field headquarters in Normandy in June 1944, during the shelling of his division’s staff by British warships.
