Lot 250:
Extremely rare Dietrich Eckart bronze bust by Ferdinand Liebermann. Only a few of these were cast and were placed inside important buildings during the 3Reich period. Two of these Eckart busts were known to have been displayed in Berchtesgaden, one in the Berghof and the other inside of the “Eckhart Room” of the Platterhof Hotel (The former Pension Moritz boarding house where AH and Eckart would meet regularly in the early 1920’s.) The Berghof bust was discovered in the 1990’s by diggers, it was buried on site and was later auctioned. Our example could very well be the bust that was on display in the Platterhof since this was initially acquired from a family years back living in Berchtesgaden.
