Lot 1321:
Adolf Hitler
Archive 56pp 1939 – 1940
Germany File Foreign
After forming the National Socialist party (Nazi), Hitler used propaganda to gain popularity. He organized strong-arm gangs into an elite guard (S.S.), which he used to eliminate the Jews and any opposition. He proceeded to turn Germany into a one-party state and assumed dictatorial powers. In startling succession he rearmed the state, reoccupied the Rhineland, formed the Rome-Berlin Axis and annexed Austria and seized Czechoslovakia, before France, Britain and Russia and finally the United States were able to stop him.
A fascinating 56pp German World War II correspondence "much depends on what Hitler says Friday the 28th… Karl kept whispering… about Germany’s plans… They did say that no one can stop the Germans from going ahead & leading the world." Six letters and 5 postcards, from Germany, from 1936-1940 to Mr. Viet in New York.
