Lot 241:
Honorary Cross of the German Mother (German: Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter), abbreviated name: Mother’s Cross (Mutterkreuz) – German decoration in the form of a cross, established by Adolf Hitler on December 16, 1938 by ordinance.
It was awarded to mothers with many children in three classes, made of metal suitable for a given class:
Mutterkreuz in Bronze (Mother’s Bronze Cross) – for 4–5 children
Mutterkreuz in Silber – for 6–7 children
Mutterkreuz in Gold (Mother’s Golden Cross) – for 8 and more children
Decoration, modeled on the Teutonic (Teutonic) cross.
They were broadcast under the so-called "Birth Wars" (Geburtenkrieg). Only certain women (meeting, among others, race criteria) could receive it. "Antisocial" as well as "racially" or "mentally impaired" mothers were excluded.
Each owner of the Mother’s Cross had the right to a public salute (the so-called Roman salute) from members of the Hitler Youth, preferential treatment in offices and priority when taking seats in public transport.On the other hand, the people mockingly called this decoration "the rabbit order"
Non-ferrous metal, excellent, unworn condition.
The enamel is flawless, the bronzing is complete.

In the accompanying award bag. The bag is in very good, only slightly used condition. With manufacturer’s stamp "
Gebr. Schmidt Oberstein/Nahe".
