Lot 501:
“The Brown House Bust” – Massive 2.5x Lifesize Hitler bust weighing 70 pounds by Lothar Dietz which was originally displayed in Braunes Haus, or the “Brown House”, NSD@P Headquarters in Munich. It came with a letter from the head of the foundry and this bust is the only one of AH that he ever cast. Letter translation is;“Dear Mr. X, Concerning your letter of October 11, 1966 about a portrait bust of Hitler which I cast for the academic sculptor Lothar Dietz in the years 1934-1935.Mr. Lothar Dietz died about 10 years ago. I cast AH busts for various prominent sculptors, but only one piece for sculptor Dietz, which was put into the Brown House. Unfortunately, I don’t know anythingabout the inauguration and so on, although I knew Mr. Dietz privately. After the war, unfortunately, I melted down many Hitler busts by good sculptors!There are only a few medals left for the purpose of portrait plaques, which were only cast in a few pieces for special purposes. If you are interested in the 3 pieces for DM 150.00 plus postage, I would send them to you. I’m approaching my 80th year of life and want to gradually close my ore foundry. While looking through my old mail, I found your letter and had it translated into German. In my youth I was in Argentina and the Gran Chaco, they only speak Spanish and Quaranie. It is questionable whether my letter will reach you after such a long time.”The visor in the photo is for size reference only and is not included.
