The inscription in black fountain ink reads, " ‘Klein Margarete – Mit den herzlichsten Glueckwuenschen zum Geburtstag – AH – Muenchen / Oktober 1935’, translated in English to, "’Little Margarete – with heartfelt wishes for your birthday – AH Munich / October 1935".
