Militaria and Political Auction
Lot 1501:
Signed original postcard of Hitler and a young Jewish girl named Rosa Bernile Nienau. Known as The Führers child, Rosa Bernile Nienau became ver close with Hitler after the met outside his house in 1933. Nienau and her mother were in a crowd of people who gathered outside Haus Wachenfeld in Obersalzberg to celebrate Hitlers birthday. After finding out that the girl shared his birthday of April 20, AH was immediately captivated with her and the two were later photographed on multiple occasions by his trusted photographer Heinrich Hoffmann. Interestingly, Rosa had a Jewish grandmother and research shows that early on AH became aware of the girls Jewish heritage but chose to ignore it, probably for both personal or propaganda reasons. However, when Reichminister Bormann discovered her lack of pure German blood, he banned mother and daughter future access to the residence. Hitler and Rosa still maintained a close relationship as pen pals, until 1938, when Bormann permanently halted their correspondence. Rosa died on October 5, 1949 at the age of 17 of spinal polio.
