Third Reich Life & War, World History
Lot 406:
Beer Hall Putsch Nazi ‘Early Fighter’ Bronze Sculpture by Hermann Hosaeus. Almost everything by Hosaeus is currently in a museum, and this is one of the more interesting pieces we’ve found while researching him. Hosaeus was a member of the Nazi party and was known for his huge sculptures that he created during and after WWI, many depicting soldiers and battle scenes. The particular style of this sculpture is one lacking detail which could possibly suggest Hosaeus created this one as a ‘study piece’ for what could have been a larger project he was planning in the future. The early fighter depicted here appears to be charging or leading the way towards the fight. He is wearing the unmistakable uniform of a Nazi storm trooper with the cross strap, boots, and collar tabs, and tie identifiable. It stands about 13 inches tall and is probably the rarest Third Reich related bronze we’ve had.
