November 2023 Military Auction
Lot 2002:
Cardboard Dutch anti-Semitic sign that reads ‘VOOR JODEN VERBODEN’. In 1941, Jews in the Netherlands were banned from most public places like parks, pools, and museums. These "Voor Joden verbodenÂ" (Forbidden for Jews) signs became very common around towns and cities throughout the country. They were attached to buildings, gates, in buses and train cars and lamp posts. Of course very few of these survived after the German occupation had ended. A few of these have surfaced over the years, this one found in 2022 in a home in the Netherlands. Measures about 10.5" x 7".
