German WW2 February Militaria Auction
Lot 265:
SS Table Medal by Deschler. Regardless of what some self-proclaimed experts will tell you, this is a 100% original table medal produced by Deschler in the late 1930’s but was never distributed. Just like the Reichsparteitag 1940 medals, this SS medal was made for an event which was to be held but was either moved to a different location or cancelled altogether. The exact reason the Tolz event was cancelled or moved is not certain but was possibly due to Germanys preparation for war later in 1939. This medal is identical to an Allach plaque from a year earlier so its apparent that both Deschler and Allach had approval to use this design. These were found in the attic of the Deschler factory in Munich some years back, along with the never distributed Reichsparteitag medals and many other variants. This discovery is known as the "Deschler hoard” and everything was sold to three German dealers / collectors, one of which we have a direct connection to and who we sourced these from.
