March 2022 Auction Day 1
Lot 145:
Adolf Hitler Schule graduation certificate and badge.
The town of Mittweida was able to refer to a six hundred year history in 1908, when the newly built school building at the Schwanenteich was inaugurated on April 28th.
The relocation of the secondary school, which was founded in 1869, became necessary due to the industrial boom and the associated population growth.
But until 1916 the facility was reserved exclusively for boys. It was not until twelve years later, in 1928, that the increased number of pupils had to be taken into account with a first extension.
After the building and the secondary school experienced the period of the German Empire and the Weimar Republic without any major changes, when the National Socialists came to power in January 1933, not only did the spirit of the school change.
That same year, on April 20, the facility was renamed the "Adolf Hitler School".
With the relocation of the war to Germany, shift work had to be introduced in the school, as the conditions had to be shared with students from Bremen.
An emergency shelter and hospital were then set up in the building.
