The Badge was conferred in recognition of exceptional achievement in the field of heavy athletics, such as weight lifting, body building, tug of war, and boxing.

Constructed of gilded bronze (magnetic); the obverse consisting of an oak wreath tied together at the base with a mural depicting two boxers mid fight, with a DRL eagle superimposed on a large freeweights bar; horizontal pinback.
