This multi-piece swastika shaped badge for the March 1st, 1935 (Saarland Plebiscite) was to commemorate the legal reunification of the Saarland with Germany, this historic event took effect on March 1st, 1935. The Saar district map is made of white metal on a gilded swastika with the date “
1.MARZ 1935” in raised letters.

The Saar area had been annexed to France since 1920, after a referendum in 1935 it was joined to the German Reich ("Heim ins Reich").
