Engineer Battalion 19 Photo Album
Pionier Bataillon 19 (Engineer Battalion 19)
Provisionally set up on October 1, 1934 as a pioneer battalion in Holzminden and assigned to the 19th Infantry Division. It was set up by division of the 6th (Prussian) Engineer Battalion. The battalion’s peacetime location was Holzminden.
On October 15, 1935, the Holzminden Pioneer Battalion was renamed Pioneer Battalion 19.
The battalion was renamed Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 19 on November 1, 1940 and placed under the 19th Panzer Division.
Replacements came from Pioneer Replacement Battalion 4 in Holzminden, which was set up on August 26, 1939 by Military District XI. From September 1, 1940, after the number had been exchanged, the Pioneer Replacement Battalion 19 was responsible for this task at the same location.
