Lot 92:
Kolonialabzeichen – Elefantenorden 1922 (Colonial Badge – Elephant Order 1922)
This badge was donated by the Ministry of Reconstruction in 1922 for all those who worked in the colonies and in the interests of the colonies during the World War.
The issuance or award was initially carried out by the Ministry of Reconstruction.
From December 31, 1935, the award was presented by the Foreign Office. In this case, only the approval for the acquisition was granted.
From January 1936, the badge was only personally awarded by the Führer and Reich Chancellor in exceptional cases.
Versions in non-ferrous metal, silver-plated or, more rarely, in aluminum were awarded. About 8000 pieces were issued.
The design was made by the sculptor
Moebius from Berlin-Wilmersdorf and has also been protected under his name.

In the lower part up to the edge 2 bound oak leaf branches.On the oak leaves there is a wide rim bordered on the inside and outside by a line.On it the writing:
SUDSEE * AFRIKA * KIAUTSCHOU – a star between the words.
In the enclosed field an elephant striding to the left with its trunk and leg raised.Right to the edge in the background a palm tree whose branches reach to the edge.Tie bow at center top of badge.

Plain with vertical pin.
